Aaahh Bikini Season!

It's officially June 1st and I am happy to say I will be more excited to show off my body than last year even though I am definitely not where I want to be yet!

The main staple of each summer is the 2-piece which I have never ventured into without a cover-up and a slight, well OK, huge cringe. I often have images of snide looks to those "skinny" B's wiggling around the pool and beaches and of burning all of the swimsuits I pass by in the crowded retail stores, but I must get over the billowing dark cloud over which every summer begins and continue to do something about the body that I am ashamed to show in this Texas heat.

Although there are some swimsuits out there that can hide the last remnants of your love handles, that little roll in your back or even the fact that your thighs rub together there is still something about summer that sends you into hyperventilation. I really cannot wait until I can walk into a store with confidence and stroll across each piece with glee. I want to walk into a dressing room and and shriek with laughter as I say yes to each with the joy like that sacred moment of saying 'Yes' to the dress! I will be there even if it takes me till the end of this summer or until next summer; I will be ready to let go of the cover-up and run free into the hot summer days! My body just tingled at the mere thought!

So back to now, I reached a milestone a week or 2 ago when I slipped into my one-piece from last year... IT DID NOT FIT! Aaaahhhh Real Monsters! lol You remember that show? Anyways this was not a bad thing; it was good. In fact it was incredible! The swimsuit was now big on me! It was sagging in the best places too. At first the initial shock made me upset because besides trying it on last summer and purchasing it, I had not worn it since. This was a new swimsuit that without altering I would never wear. I have no idea why this mattered to me since I own many items that still have their original tags, but it did.

Now I am accepting that I am in that grey area between one-piece and two-piece, but still not as comfortable in either, so here is where the real work begins. I will be sharing with you all my plans soon! You can work your way to bikini heaven with me. Let's do this!

Meanwhile one of my blogger friends, Bailey Powell has a lovely little post on bikinis here entitled: To Bikini or Not to Bikini, 10 Tips to Get the Perfect Fit. The post starts with an introduction from Bailey, but the rest is by Cindy Prosser. Excerpt below:

... swimsuit season is officially here. I think it’s safe to say that after the age of 13 most of us experience some degree of dread when it comes to shopping for a bathing suit. Lucky for us writer Cindy Prosser has swooped in to help, providing insightful tips on how to minimize your flaws and highlight your (ahem) assets

Well, although she writes so eloquently this is a guest post that I am sure you will enjoy! Check out her other awesome posts. If you are not sure where to start here are a few of the fan faves: 5 Things Carrie Bradshaw Failed to Mention About New York City , “You’re Not Invited to My Birthday Party”, and Other Girl Grievances , How to Truly Exude Class: Part One and Part Two , and for the gentlemen, if any, who read my blog, another guest post, about the The DOs and DON’Ts of the Gym (For Gents!)

Happy FIT Friday!
Here's something to laugh about...
